Giving and receiving circle

📝 Description

A space for us to come together, hold space, connect and experience giving and receiving.

We all need a sanctuary, a sacred space where we feel safe, accepted, and cared for. A place where we feel whole. Gathering in a circle – symbol of perfection, integration, and wholeness – is a powerful way to co-create a sacred space, for it allows everyone to experience each other as equals. When you come together with others in a circle, you are united.

This particular circle invites you to play around with the concept of receiving and giving at the same time, of caring for others whilst being cared for by others. Because a circle has no clear beginning or end, it allows for energy to flow freely among the group. And when you finally hold hands, the connection with both your individual and collective spirit will feel stronger in the circle than if you were by yourself.

👣 Steps

Step 1 – Raindrop

Ask everyone to catch a raindrop with their left hand.

Step 2 – Bouncing ball

Ask everyone to bounce a ball with their right hand.

Step 3 – Playing together

Encourage the circle to practise doing both movements, before asking them to bring their hands close to those of the people next to them (without touching) so that someone’s right hand is above another’s left hand.

Step 4 – Holding space

Keep hands still and experience holding space for each other.

Step 5 – Holding hands

Hold hands and stay silent for a few moments, before letting go.

Step 6 – Sharing

Share feedback on your experience.
